Wow, I’ve been so wrapped up in getting the news out on my first giveaway, that now I realize I’ve neglected to post my Daily Bread entries. While I love learning about all the ins and outs of blogging and giveaways, I’ve mentioned before that I felt maintaining this blog should remain in part, a constructive tool to cultivate my self discipline and purpose, not develop into yet another time constraint taxing my family. That said, I’m excited to get back on track with my goal of weekly sharing my journal entries with you. For now, I’ve really been enjoying the S.O.A.P. study method and find that it helps me make the most of my quiet time (or not so quiet but bible reading time).
When I revealed our family’s decision to homeschool Lil’ Lizard rather than return to public school for 1st grade, we encountered so many reactions varying from absolute disgust to offers to help coordinate field trips. Unfortunately, we ran into more of the former than the latter and at times it was very discouraging. That’s why this week as I link up with Marsha for Thankful Thursdays, I want to give a shout out those who have helped us along the way.
Sometimes I scare myself by how scattered I am….more accurately how scattered my things are. This translates to a lot of missing or lost objects, often really precious or important objects. Thankfully, God has been so overwhelmingly merciful and has consistently helped me find that which was lost. So when my handsome hubby misplaced our camera’s SD card, I was quick to bring it to the Lord in prayer. However, that wasn’t always my first inclination….
Woo Hoo! This is our first give away here at Grace Within the Race and I am pleased to officially announce that we are OPEN FOR ENTRIES!!!
UPDATE: We have a WINNER!!! If the randomly selected winner fails to respond within a few days, I will notify the chosen runner up! 🙂 Thank you all so much for participating and making my first review a success! I hope you give Seeds Family Worship a try and check out their online store. What a blessing it’s been to see so many of y’all interested in God’s Word. Hallelujah!!
As our first year of homeschooling comes to a close, I look back at our year and can’t help but praise God for bringing us through it. I love how close our family has grown together and cherish so many wonderful moments we’ve shared. That said, I also recognize that perhaps I could have avoided some (key word some) of the stress packed moments with more preparation. If you are considering home education or in the midst of it and feeling overwhelmed, this one is for you. I’ll explain how I stumbled into homeschooling, the steps I wish I took in advance, and share links to the resources that helped me through. As a newbie I haven’t many pearls of wisdom to offer, but hopefully you won’t have to learn these 7 lessons the hard way as I did.
Growing up on T.V. dinners and noodles, I still struggle with confidence in the kitchen. I pretty much get in, do what I gotta do, and get out. Despite being raised by an amazing cook, my husband isn’t at all picky and thankfully will eat just about anything. Anything except breakfast. His mornings start so early that any time he can reserve for rest he does just that. I tried a few times to get up with him and scrambles some eggs or something…but usually I sleep right through the alarm. One night I was up with my teething Eager Explorer and since I had plenty of time before he left for work, I decided I’d try to my first homemade breakfast taco.
Last week I wrote about what Daily Bread means to me and how I hope to share my bible journal entries (more about the S.O.A.P. method here) at least once a week. I really enjoy working on this blog as both a creative outlet and opportunity to practice discipline. I’m still learning how to put it all together, but I don’t think you can go wrong with sharing the Word of God 🙂
Wow, I can’t believe it’s already Thursday! I don’t know about you, but this week has flown by over here. As I was researching why our Facebook page was pulling the wrong image for the article posts, I ran across another lovely blogger who is hosting a Thankful Thursday Link Up. To be honest, I wasn’t even sure what a link up was, but I’m thankful I took a look to discover it!
